Provérbios 6:1-35
1 Filho meu, se ficaste por fiador do teu companheiro, se deste a tua mão ao estranho,
2 E te deixaste enredar pelas próprias palavras; e te prendeste nas palavras da tua boca;
3 Faze pois isto agora, filho meu, e livra-te, já que caíste nas mãos do teu companheiro: vai, humilha-te, e importuna o teu companheiro.
4 Não dês sono aos teus olhos, nem deixes adormecer as tuas pálpebras.
5 Livra-te, como a gazela da mão do caçador, e como a ave da mão do passarinheiro.
6 Vai ter com a formiga, ó preguiçoso; olha para os seus caminhos, e sê sábio.
7 Pois ela, não tendo chefe, nem guarda, nem dominador,
8 Prepara no verão o seu pão; na sega ajunta o seu mantimento.
9 Ó preguiçoso, até quando ficarás deitado? Quando te levantarás do teu sono?
10 Um pouco a dormir, um pouco a tosquenejar; um pouco a repousar de braços cruzados;
11 Assim sobrevirá a tua pobreza como o meliante, e a tua necessidade como um homem armado.
12 O homem mau, o homem iníquo tem a boca pervertida.
13 Acena com os olhos, fala com os pés e faz sinais com os dedos.
14 Há no seu coração perversidade, todo o tempo maquina mal; anda semeando contendas.
15 Por isso a sua destruição virá repentinamente; subitamente será quebrantado, sem que haja cura.
16 Estas seis coisas o Senhor odeia, e a sétima a sua alma abomina:
17 Olhos altivos, língua mentirosa, mãos que derramam sangue inocente,
18 O coração que maquina pensamentos perversos, pés que se apressam a correr para o mal,
19 A testemunha falsa que profere mentiras, e o que semeia contendas entre irmãos.
20 Filho meu, guarda o mandamento de teu pai, e não deixes a lei da tua mãe;
21 Ata-os perpetuamente ao teu coração, e pendura-os ao teu pescoço.
22 Quando caminhares, te guiará; quando te deitares, te guardará; quando acordares, falará contigo.
23 Porque o mandamento é lâmpada, e a lei é luz; e as repreensões da correção são o caminho da vida,
24 Para te guardarem da mulher vil, e das lisonjas da estranha.
25 Não cobices no teu coração a sua formosura, nem te prendas aos seus olhos.
26 Porque por causa duma prostituta se chega a pedir um bocado de pão; e a adúltera anda à caça da alma preciosa.
27 Porventura tomará alguém fogo no seu seio, sem que suas vestes se queimem?
28 Ou andará alguém sobre brasas, sem que se queimem os seus pés?
29 Assim ficará o que entrar à mulher do seu próximo; não será inocente todo aquele que a tocar.
30 Não se injuria o ladrão, quando furta para saciar-se, tendo fome;
31 E se for achado pagará o tanto sete vezes; terá de dar todos os bens da sua casa.
32 Assim, o que adultera com uma mulher é falto de entendimento; aquele que faz isso destrói a sua alma.
33 Achará castigo e vilipêndio, e o seu opróbrio nunca se apagará.
34 Porque os ciúmes enfurecerão o marido; de maneira nenhuma perdoará no dia da vingança.
35 Não aceitará nenhum resgate, nem se conformará por mais que aumentes os presentes.

1 My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
3 Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.
4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
5 Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
12 A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
13 He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
14 Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
20 My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
21 Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
26 For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life.
27 Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
28 Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
29 So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
30 Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
31 But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
32 But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
33 A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
34 For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
35 He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.

6 Mon fils, si tu as cautionné ton prochain,
Si tu t’es engagé pour autrui,
2 Si tu es enlacé par les paroles de ta bouche,
Si tu es pris par les paroles de ta bouche,
3 Fais donc ceci, mon fils, dégage-toi,
Puisque tu es tombé au pouvoir de ton prochain;
Va, prosterne-toi, et fais des instances auprès de lui;
4 Ne donne ni sommeil à tes yeux,
Ni assoupissement à tes paupières;
5 Dégage-toi comme la gazelle de la main du chasseur,
Comme l’oiseau de la main de l’oiseleur.
La paresse
6 Va vers la fourmi, paresseux;
Considère ses voies, et deviens sage.
7 Elle n’a ni chef,
Ni inspecteur, ni maître;
8 Elle prépare en été sa nourriture,
Elle amasse pendant la moisson de quoi manger.
9 Paresseux, jusqu’à quand seras-tu couché?
Quand te lèveras-tu de ton sommeil?
10 Un peu de sommeil, un peu d’assoupissement,
Un peu croiser les mains pour dormir!…
11 Et la pauvreté te surprendra, comme un rôdeur,
Et la disette, comme un homme en armes.
La duplicité
12 L’homme pervers, l’homme inique,
Marche la fausseté dans la bouche;
13 Il cligne des yeux, parle du pied,
Fait des signes avec les doigts;
14 La perversité est dans son cœur,
Il médite le mal en tout temps,
Il excite des querelles.
15 Aussi sa ruine arrivera-t-elle subitement;
Il sera brisé tout d’un coup, et sans remède.
16 Il y a six choses que hait l’Eternel,
Et même sept qu’il a en horreur:
17 Les yeux hautains, la langue menteuse,
Les mains qui répandent le sang innocent,
18 Le cœur qui médite des projets iniques,
Les pieds qui se hâtent de courir au mal,
19 Le faux témoin qui dit des mensonges,
Et celui qui excite des querelles entre frères.
L’adultère
20 Mon fils, garde les préceptes de ton père,
Et ne rejette pas l’enseignement de ta mère.
21 Lie-les constamment sur ton cœur,
Attache-les à ton cou.
22 Ils te dirigeront dans ta marche,
Ils te garderont sur ta couche,
Ils te parleront à ton réveil.
23 Car le précepte est une lampe, et l’enseignement une lumière,
Et les avertissements de la correction sont le chemin de la vie:
24 Ils te préserveront de la femme corrompue,
De la langue doucereuse de l’étrangère.
25 Ne la convoite pas dans ton cœur pour sa beauté,
Et ne te laisse pas séduire par ses paupières.
26 Car pour la femme prostituée on se réduit à un morceau de pain,
Et la femme mariée tend un piège à la vie précieuse.
27 Quelqu’un mettra-t-il du feu dans son sein,
Sans que ses vêtements s’enflamment?
28 Quelqu’un marchera-t-il sur des charbons ardents,
Sans que ses pieds soient brûlés?
29 Il en est de même pour celui qui va vers la femme de son prochain:
Quiconque la touche ne restera pas impuni.
30 On ne tient pas pour innocent le voleur qui dérobe
Pour satisfaire son appétit, quand il a faim;
31 Si on le trouve, il fera une restitution au septuple,
Il donnera tout ce qu’il a dans sa maison.
32 Mais celui qui commet un adultère avec une femme est dépourvu de sens,
Celui qui veut se perdre agit de la sorte;
33 Il n’aura que plaie et ignominie,
Et son opprobre ne s’effacera point.
34 Car la jalousie met un homme en fureur,
Et il est sans pitié au jour de la vengeance;
35 Il n’a égard à aucune rançon,
Et il est inflexible, quand même tu multiplierais les dons.

2 ти попався до пастки з-за слів своїх уст, схоплений ти із-за слів своїх уст!
3 Учини тоді це, сину мій, та рятуйсь, бо впав ти до рук свого ближнього: іди, впади в порох, і на ближніх своїх напирай,
4 не дай сну своїм очам, і дрімання повікам своїм,
5 рятуйся, як серна, з руки, і як птах із руки птахолова!
6 Іди до мурашки, лінюху, поглянь на дороги її й помудрій:
7 нема в неї володаря, ані урядника, ані правителя;
8 вона заготовлює літом свій хліб, збирає в жнива свою їжу.
9 Аж доки, лінюху, ти будеш вилежуватись, коли ти зо сну свого встанеш?
10 Ще трохи поспати, подрімати ще трохи, руки трохи зложити, щоб полежати,
11 і прийде, немов волоцюга, твоя незаможність, і злидні твої, як озброєний муж!...
12 Людина нікчемна, чоловік злочинний, він ходить з лукавими устами,
13 він моргає очима своїми, шургає своїми ногами, знаки подає пальцями своїми,
14 в його серці лукавство виорює зло кожночасно, сварки розсіває,
15 тому нагло приходить погибіль його, буде раптом побитий і ліку нема!
16 Оцих шість ненавидить Господь, а ці сім то гидота душі Його:
17 очі пишні, брехливий язик, і руки, що кров неповинну ллють,
18 серце, що плекає злочинні думки, ноги, що сквапно біжать на лихе,
19 свідок брехливий, що брехні роздмухує, і хто розсіває сварки між братів!
20 Стережи, сину мій, заповідь батька свого, і не відкидай науки матері своєї!
21 Прив'яжи їх на серці своєму назавжди, повісь їх на шиї своїй!
22 Вона буде провадити тебе у ході, стерегтиме тебе, коли будеш лежати, а пробудишся мовити буде до тебе!
23 Бо заповідь Божа світильник, а наука то світло, дорога ж життя то навчальні картання,
24 щоб тебе стерегти від злосливої жінки, від облесливого язика чужинки.
25 Не жадай її вроди у серці своїм, і тебе хай не візьме своїми повіками,
26 бо вартість розпусної жінки то боханець хліба, а жінка заміжня вловлює душу цінну...
27 Чи візьме людина огонь на лоно своє, і одіж її не згорить?
28 Чи буде людина ходити по вугіллю розпаленому, і не попаляться ноги її?
29 Так і той, хто вчащає до жінки свого ближнього: не буде некараним кожен, хто доторкнеться до неї!
30 Не погорджують злодієм, якщо він украде, щоб рятувати життя своє, коли він голодує,
31 та як буде він знайдений, всемеро він відшкодує, віддасть все майно свого дому!
32 Хто чинить перелюб, не має той розуму, він знищує душу свою,
33 побої та сором він знайде, а ганьба його не зітреться,
34 бо заздрощі лютість мужчини, і не змилосердиться він у день помсти:
35 він не зверне уваги на жоден твій викуп, і не схоче, коли ти гостинця прибільшиш!
